Due to the current situation, Mission Action Day has been postponed. Further details will be distributed in due course.
The ongoing nurturing of a genuine concern for social justice is a key element of an education at St Michael’s College. Mission Action Day (MAD) is one of the ways that we work together to support those most in need. As we move into the Lenten season, the College is launching MAD with assemblies at the secondary and primary campuses. The first of these was once again an outstanding success due to the creativity and tireless work of our College Leaders and their support crew of College staff. The prayer, highly anticipated MAD video, and reflections on Lasallian projects were all instrumental in making the launch a successful precursor to this year’s MAD.
In the past, as a Catholic Community, we would have had a walkathon along the beach as a whole school and each student would obtain individual sponsorships. This year is the 50th anniversary of Mission Action Day. We have kept the tradition of the Beach Walk for the Henley Campus and Beach Activities for the Beverley Campus.
Each year the funds raised through MAD go to a range of local charities and national and international organisations to assist those less fortunate. Sometimes we might think that our individual donations are unable to help others very much, but when all of us at St Michael’s College work together, we can reach targets that can make a significant difference to the marginalised and most in need. I would encourage us all to make this year’s Mission Action Day one of our most successful ever by donating generously and participating in the fun activities.
