The casual day held in the last week of Term 2 was a huge success. The whole College community participated and donated $2143.15. Money from the recycling cans will be used to increase the donation to $3000. A donation of $1500 will be made to Hutt St Centre and Catherine House, important charities in assisting the homeless in our community. Thank you for your support.
HOMELESSNESS CAN AND DOES HAPPEN TO ANYONE
Hutt St Centre aims to end homelessness for every person who walks through our doors, with care and without judgement.
Each year Hutt St Centre serves up to 40,000 meals and offers social work and support services to nearly 2,000 people. Showers, laundry facilities, visiting health professionals, an aged city living program for our older clients, recreational activities, training and employment programs, legal aid and assistance with finding housing are all services provided to up to 200 people challenged by homelessness each day.

FAVOURITE FAMILY RECIPES AND MEMORIES
The Junior Secondary School (Year 7, 8 and 9) are creating a special recipe and memory book. We are asking families to identify your favourite recipe, and the special memories attached to it during these times. Students will begin documenting your story in Week 3 and 4 in Pastoral Care, ready for us to compile them! More information will be provided shortly.

NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK: DEEP BLUE TREASURE HUNT – LAUNCHING AUGUST 8
Treasure hunting is back in style, with the launch of a family-friendly, marine-based web app, The Deep Blue Treasure Hunt on 8 August 2020.
It uses mobile technology and hands-on fun activities to help families learn about their local coastlines and teaches them how to look after and protect marine environments. It is a fun and interactive way for children to learn about their marine environment and contribute positively to its future health.

PARK IT FOR THE PLANET
Inspired by ABC’s upcoming series Fight for Planet A, Park it for the Planet is a great opportunity to enhance classroom learning around climate change by giving active travel a go for one day.
On Wednesday 26 August, families are encouraged to leave the car at home and ride, walk, scoot or skate to school to reduce carbon emissions. If students are learning remotely, they can still go for a ride or walk from home to get involved. Every kilometre you pedal saves 243.8 grams of carbon emissions!
SAVE THE DATE
Pending the evolving circumstances of COVID-19 restrictions, the reunion for the Class of 1980 will be held at Henley SLSC on Saturday 24 October 2020 from 6:30 pm.
At present, the Henley SLSC club is restricted to 80 patrons – whilst the 1980 cohort is happy to have partners attend, if numbers get tight we would have to prioritise the old scholars.
A registration link will be provided in the coming weeks.
